Retreats at Vivekananda Ashrama

Vivekananda Ashrama conducts spiritual retreats from time to time, mainly between March–June and September–November. Guided by Swami Vivekananda’s motto, “Atmano mokshartham jagat hitaya cha”—for one’s own liberation and for the welfare of the world—the Ashram has upheld this Ramakrishna Mission ideal for over a century, inspiring all who engage with it. These retreats help participants realize the truth within through scriptural discourses, meditation, and teachings in Vedanta and Advaita, rooted in Practical Vedanta. Emphasis is placed on applying spiritual principles in daily life, allowing participants to experience the practicality and transformative power of the scriptures. They also observe Jagat Hitaya activities such as rural medical outreach, teaching underprivileged children, computer coaching, and holistic child development. This exposure cultivates a spirit of seva and deepens their understanding of selfless service. Nestled in the Himalayas, the Ashram offers a setting where inner realization and outer action unite in harmony, reflecting the living philosophy of the Ramakrishna tradition.
